Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Jonesboro Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against the Longhorns on Saturday, falling 54-8. Jonesboro's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Nathan Forrest threw for 59 yards and a touchdown.
DeMarcus Acoff was his top target, picking up 34 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Jonesboro's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Gordon, they have yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 14-0 record.
Jonesboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gordon will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Westbrook at 11:00 a.m. on December 13th. Westbrook knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Gordon likes a good challenge.
