For the first time this season, Stratford Academy will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the John Milledge Academy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stratford Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Last Friday, Stratford Academy blew past Brookstone, posting a 41-14 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Tyler Stephens, who rushed for 234 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Aaron Jefferson helped out on the ground, rushing for 100 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stratford Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 354 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.
Meanwhile, John Milledge Academy gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Brentwood 31-28. John Milledge Academy's victory was all the more impressive since the War Eagles were averaging only 10.67 points allowed on the season.
John Milledge Academy's win came from a few key players Stratford Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Asa Wall, who rushed for 76 yards and one TD, and also picked up 58 receiving yards and one score. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making 14 total tackles. Another player making a difference was Lewis Cheney, who threw for 166 yards and three touchdowns.
Stratford Academy's record now sits at 5-0. As for John Milledge Academy, their record is now 5-1.
Everything came up roses for Stratford Academy against John Milledge Academy in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-7 win. In that contest, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
