The Kouts Mustangs & Fillies are taking a road trip to square off against the Winamac Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Kouts will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Kouts will bounce into Monday's contest after beating South Central, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs & Fillies were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Satellites on Saturday. Considering the Mustangs & Fillies have won 11 games by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Landon Garrett and Billy Miller were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Garrett pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Miller struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Garrett went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Miller went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Garrett has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reid Estill, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Harper, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Triton hit Winamac with a four-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors lost 11-5 to the Trojans. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Eli Budka was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Cash Roth was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.
Kouts' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Winamac, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Both Kouts and Winamac just can't seem to miss. The Mustangs & Fillies have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Winamac struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
