The High Point Eagles and the Parkdale Panthers will face off at 7:15 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. High Point is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
High Point struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Spartans had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. High Point lost to the Spartans on the road by a decisive 68-51 margin. High Point has struggled against the Spartans recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ibrahim Turay, who scored 21 points along with four steals. He hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Kadan Solomonraj, who scored 18 points along with three blocks and two steals.
Meanwhile, Parkdale pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to DuVal 64-59. While losing is never fun, Parkdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Tigers are ranked 91st).
Parkdale might have lost, but man, Jacob Wilson was a machine: he scored 18 points. Mark Freeland was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
High Point's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Parkdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.
Thursday's match is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: High Point have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Parkdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 21.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
High Point lost to the Panthers at home by a decisive 59-43 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Will High Point have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
