Butte County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the West Jefferson Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Butte County posted their biggest win since December 5, 2023 on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 62-40 margin over Carey. Butte County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season.
Butte County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Westergard led the charge by scoring 17 points. Braxton Gamett was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, West Jefferson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ririe. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Thursday (57), West Jefferson still had to take the loss.
Butte County's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for West Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Butte County strolled past West Jefferson in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 70-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Butte County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
