Veritas Academy's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 62-45 bruising from Holy Cross. While losing is never fun, Veritas Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 970th, while Holy Cross is ranked 473rd).
Leading Holy Cross to victory were Aaron Garcia and Carlos Cirlos. Garcia scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Cirlos scored 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The match was Garcia's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Moises Ledesma, who scored ten points.
Veritas Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Holy Cross, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Veritas Academy will head out on the road to face off against Geneva on Tuesday. As for Holy Cross, they will be playing in front of their home fans against John Paul II at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. John Paul II is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
