Basketball Game Preview: Meridian Mustangs vs. Warren County Wildcats

Meridian is 10-0 against Warren County since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Meridian Mustangs will host the Warren County Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Meridian will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Meridian is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Skyline: they outscored them in every quarter. Meridian was the clear victor by a 60-34 margin over Skyline on Friday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meridian had a senior duo take command as Ellie Friesen went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and six rebounds and Nora Stufft went 7 for 10 on her way to 15 points and seven boards. The game was Friesen's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Lieu, who posted nine points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Warren County played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 51-25 to James Wood. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Colonels: they've now lost four in a row.

Meridian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Warren County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-7.

Everything came up roses for Meridian against Warren County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 63-29 win. Will Meridian repeat their success, or does Warren County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
