The Kentridge Chargers were the 54-49 winner over the Kentwood Conquerors when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Kentridge took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kentwood. Kentridge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Kentridge lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Sydney Esperanza. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Esperanza has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaya Brown, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Kentridge bumped their record down to 8-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Kentwood, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.
Kentridge will be playing at home against Mt. Rainier at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Rainier will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Kentridge is ranked 94th). As for Kentwood, they will head out on the road to challenge Tahoma at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tahoma is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
