After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Hanover, the West Brunswick Trojans were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 52-41 victory over Topsail. That result was just more of the same for these two, as West Brunswick also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Among those leading the charge was Royce Metters, who scored 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Josiah Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Topsail still got an impressive performance from Spencer Henry, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Landon Kaiser, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Topsail were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Brunswick only posted three assists.
West Brunswick's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Topsail, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
West Brunswick will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. Laney presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Trojans in North Carolina (the Buccaneers are ranked 36th, while the Trojans are ranked 313th). As for Topsail, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Hanover knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully the Pirates like a good challenge.
