The McDonough Warhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Stockbridge Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McDonough will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Stockbridge is ranked 50th).
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought contest, but McDonough had to settle for a 30-28 loss against Luella.
Despite the defeat, McDonough got a solid performance out of Terrell Riley, who rushed for 192 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Riley is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Launtae Dewberry jr, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, Stockbridge entered their tilt with Pace Academy with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Everything went Stockbridge's way against Pace Academy on Friday as Stockbridge made off with a 31-7 victory. The result was nothing new for Stockbridge, who have now won seven contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Jayden "duke" Scott, who rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. Scott hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for nine straight games.
McDonough's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Stockbridge, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
McDonough suffered a grim 32-8 defeat to Stockbridge in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can McDonough avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
