Argonia is 2-8 against Flinthills since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Argonia Red Raiders will look to defend their home court against the Flinthills Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Argonia and three for Flinthills.
Argonia pushed their score all the way to 66 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Oxford by a score of 68-66. While losing is never fun, Argonia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Oxford is ranked 115th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Filippo Leonardi, who scored 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Carson Vineyard was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Argonia were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Flinthills suffered a tough 50-27 defeat at the hands of Central on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Flinthills has scored all season.
Argonia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Flinthills, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-9.
Argonia came up short against Flinthills when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 50-44. Will Argonia have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
