The Bryant Hornets waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with 23 straight wins but they left with 24. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Cabot 51-48. Given Bryant's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Cabot is ranked 51st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bryant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Camarion Bead led the charge by scoring 21 points along with two steals. Bead is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Rj Young was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Bryant's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-2. As for Cabot, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-15.
Bryant will head out on the road to take on Little Rock Southwest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bryant focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday. As for Cabot, they will be playing at home against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cabot has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
