Even though the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs have not done well against the Eastern Warriors recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Lynchburg-Clay claimed a resounding 53-24 victory over Eastern at home. With Lynchburg-Clay ahead 35-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Lynchburg-Clay's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addison West, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was West's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Massey, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Lynchburg-Clay's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Eastern, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lynchburg-Clay will take on Fayetteville-Perry at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Fayetteville-Perry focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday. As for Eastern, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against West Union at 7:30 p.m.
