AISA AAA Region 1 recap November 5, 2013
Bessemer Academy extended the longest winning streak in AISA AAA Region 1 this week by beating Patrician Academy, 27-6. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Rebels.
Ward Military Academy fell to Edgewood Academy 57-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Bessemer Academy's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Lucas Vining threw for 133 and 2 touchdowns and Justin Pratt had 54 yards receiving. On the ground Noah Napier contributed 136 yards. Napier helped Bessemer Academy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 47 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Kingwood Christian's Gavin Sumrall and Montez Haynes have proven to be a lethal combination. Sumrall has thrown for 2,247 yards this season, while Haynes has 40 catches for 965 yards. Thomas DeGrange from Lee-Scott Academy leads the league in rushing with 1,065 yards.
The Lions' Haynes is only 35 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the Fort Dale Academy. So far this year, he has acheived 40 catches for 965 yards.
