Make it 12 blowout wins for the Mingus Marauders this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Lee Williams 61-25 at home. Given Mingus' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Lee Williams is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mingus found their leader in underclassman Savannah Tobias, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and eight steals. Tobias is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Alice Kinsey was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Lee Williams lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brooke Slinkard, who scored two points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Baleigh Crook, who scored seven points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Mingus and bumps their season record up to 17-4. As for Lee Williams, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Mingus will head out on the road to take on Flagstaff at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Flagstaff will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak. As for Lee Williams, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Prescott at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Prescott is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61 points per game.
