The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. Patrick, who took down 163rd ranked St. Patrick, 51-14. Ethan Necaise threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns and ran for four yards in the win.
Collins was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in 3A Region 8. Earlier in the week, the Tigers triumphed over Richland 33-0.
Sumrall's dynamic duo of Will Simon and Austin Watts proved tough for West Marion to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Simon threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns and Watts had 166 yards receiving. Devontae Watts helped Sumrall's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 73 yards.
Vonnie Harrell was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 152 yards on 23 carries as the Trojans fell to the Trojans. Teammate Jamar Cole added to the ground attack by rushing for 114 yards.
Sumrall's Simon and Watts have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Simon has thrown for 2816 yards this season, while Watts, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 68 catches for 1240 yards. Harrell from West Marion leads the league in rushing with 1014 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against Shannon White's team, Necaise is short just 40 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 17 touchdowns this year, Necaise has thrown for 1960 yards with 13 interceptions.
A big matchup in 3A Region 8 this week will be when Brad Duncan's team takes on Seminary. The Trojans are in first place, while the Bulldogs are in third place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when West Marion takes on Seminary. The Trojans have allowed 92 points this season, while the Bulldogs have given up 209. West Marion allowed 29 points last week as it beat the Bobcats.
The Trojans extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Sumrall, 42-29. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
