Morse hasn't had much luck against Coronado recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Islanders at 4:00 p.m. Morse is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Morse had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Mission Bay put an end to it on Friday. The Tigers fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 1-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Coronado earned a 9-5 win over San Diego on Friday. The Islanders haven't had any issues with the Cavers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Ali Pecus made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Cali Smith was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Sammy Aldworth was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Coronado's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Morse, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Morse hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Coronado struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
