Two dominant guards in Celicia Robles and Olivia Kim are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Prairie View Thunderhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Broomfield Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th. Prairie View will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Broomfield is ranked 32nd).
Prairie View unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by Monarch 71-35. Prairie View has not had much luck with Monarch recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
In what's become a running theme this season, Broomfield gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Brighton 67-10 at home. With Broomfield ahead 39-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Broomfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Gilpatrick, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Gilpatrick is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Ej Harper was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Prairie View's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Broomfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Prairie View was taken down by Broomfield 62-24 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Prairie View, Sophie Christopher (who scored 12 points along with six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
