There's no place like home for the Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs , who bounced back after a tough loss on the road back in December of 2023. They walked away with a 69-61 victory over Seven Rivers Christian on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meadowbrook Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tico Smith, who scored 26 points. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Meadowbrook Academy's points. Zach Ross was another key contributor, dropping a triple-double on 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals.
Richard Kilias and Hendrix Loughridge certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Kilias scored 30 points along with seven rebounds, while Loughridge dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The game was Kilias' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Stasio, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Meadowbrook Academy's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Seven Rivers Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meadowbrook Academy will take on Redeemer Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Redeemer Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Seven Rivers Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
