Softball Recap: Plano Takes a Loss

Plano was the 6-5 winner over Plano West when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Plano Wildcats fell just short of the Plano West Wolves by a score of 17-16 on Tuesday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Addison Pecenka led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Darby DeJean, who went 4-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

Pecenka wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Plano kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. They got eight more hits than Plano West's also-impressive total of 15.

Plano's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-9. As for Plano West, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Looking ahead, Plano will square off against Prosper at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Prosper will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Plano surely won't give up without a fight. As for Plano West, they will challenge McKinney at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
