David Wignot was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corey Bean, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jesus Acuna, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, East Rowan came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Spiders an 11-0 shutout. The Mustangs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 11-0).
East Rowan also got a great performance from Julian Cauble as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Harrison Ailshie was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Braylen Ketchie was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
East Rowan hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Concord struck out eight times.
East Rowan's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Norman Charter, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
