After flying high against the Far Northeast W Warriors last Friday, the Westminster Wolves came back down to earth. Westminster fell 56-44 to Rangeview on Wednesday. Westminster was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rangeview apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Westminster still got an impressive performance from Brooke Gomez, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Gomez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Alicia Trujillo was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Rangeview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was D'ajha Horton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zania Romero-king, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Westminster has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Rangeview, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-10.
Westminster will be playing in front of their home fans against George Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Westminster focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Wednesday. As for Rangeview, they will head out on the road to square off against Denver East at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Denver East's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games.
