Basketball Game Preview: St. Paul Lutheran Giants vs. Lesterville Bearcats

The St. Paul Lutheran Giants will head out to face off against the Lesterville Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Paul Lutheran is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.

St. Paul Lutheran's tournament run continued when they took on North County on Tuesday. St. Paul Lutheran fell just short of North County by a score of 48-45.

St. Paul Lutheran's loss came about despite a quality game from Mia Sherrill, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most rebounds Sherrill has posted since back in January of 2024. Brooklyn Weibrecht was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lesterville challenged Arcadia Valley two weeks ago. Lesterville was beaten by Arcadia Valley 61-15. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Tigers are ranked 109th).

Lesterville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for St. Paul Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

St. Paul Lutheran strolled past Lesterville when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 53-37. Does St. Paul Lutheran have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lesterville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
