The Peoria Panthers are still undefeated this season after their game against the Catalina Foothills Falcons on Saturday, but the Catalina Foothills Falcons came as close as anyone has to beating them. Peoria sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 34-32 win over Catalina Foothills. That's two games straight that Peoria has won by exactly two points.
Michelle Kogbara was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Peoria's points. Cieraka Lynch was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Catalina Foothills saw an underclassman step up: Kayanna Chief scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alessandra Egginton, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds.
Peoria's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Catalina Foothills, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Peoria's road trip will continue as they head out to face Arizona College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on November 25th. Hopefully Arizona College Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. As for Catalina Foothills, they will take on Xavier College Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Averaging 89.7 so far this season, Xavier College Prep's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Catalina Foothills better be ready for a challenge.
