Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Ashley Screaming Eagle walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 38-19 victory over Pine Forest on Friday. The win was just what Ashley needed coming off of a 34-14 defeat in their prior matchup.
Ashley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quinn Bentley, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. Jaelan Brewington was another key contributor, rushing for 157 yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Pine Forest lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nyzir Bostick. Despite the final result, he rushed for 92 yards on only ten carries, and also threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Fredrick Logan also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Ashley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Pine Forest, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.
Ashley will take on Fuquay - Varina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Fuquay - Varina is ranked 117th, while Ashley is ranked 114th). Pine Forest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
