The Lakeside Panthers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They escaped with a win against Brunswick by the margin of a single free throw, 71-70. Given Lakeside's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Brunswick is ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakeside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryce Reynierson led the charge by scoring 22 points. Reynierson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Mi?keal Grissom was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Lakeside's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7. As for Brunswick, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeside will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Glynn Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Glynn Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matches. As for Brunswick, they will head out on the road to face off against South Effingham at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
