The timing isn't great for Franklin County Tech: they have been struggling with seven straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Frontier Regional has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
Franklin County Tech got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 7-3 win over South Hadley.
Brayleigh Burgh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Amelia Rider, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Sandra Johnson, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Frontier Regional got the win against Minnechaug Regional on Monday by a conclusive 7-1. The Red Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Raine Wonsey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Skyler Steele was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Riley Tine was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Frontier Regional's victory bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Franklin County Tech, their win bumped their record up to 2-9.
