It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the St. Rita Mustangs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Marian Catholic 35-0 at home. The victory was just what St. Rita needed coming off of a 39-10 defeat in their prior game.
St. Rita's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derrick Stewart, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Walter Jones, who picked up 117 receiving yards and a touchdown.
St. Rita now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Marian Catholic, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
St. Rita will be playing in front of their home fans against Marist at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Marist's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matchups. Marian Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
