Basketball Recap: Ezekiel Stump's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pueblo West over Discovery Canyon

Pueblo West lost against Discovery Canyon back in February of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pueblo West Cyclones took a 77-73 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Discovery Canyon Thunder. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), the Cyclones still had to take the loss.

Several Cyclones players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ezekiel Stump, who posted 18 points and six rebounds. The matchup was Stump's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Trujillo, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and seven boards.

Pueblo West is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. As for Discovery Canyon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Pueblo West will face off against Dakota Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dakota Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62 points per game this season. As for Discovery Canyon, they will take on Poudre at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
