Basketball Game Preview: North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers vs. Danville Warriors

North Montgomery is 0-10 against Danville since January of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers will take on the Danville Warriors at 8:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

North Montgomery saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crawfordsville.

The losing side was boosted by Kelby Harwood, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Colten Arnold was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Danville played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Plainfield, falling 61-40. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Loss or not, Danville got some senior leadership from Jace Scrafton and Steven Webb. Scrafton posted 11 points and four steals, while Webb went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds. That's the most steals Scrafton has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Glenzy, who had four points.

North Montgomery's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Danville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: North Montgomery has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Danville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

North Montgomery was taken down by Danville 73-30 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point North Montgomery was down 38-14.
