There's no place like home for the Thunderbird Titans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They managed a 55-49 victory over Moon Valley on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Thunderbird also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Thunderbird's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Paris Strozier jr, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Calcaterra, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Moon Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Damion Miller-Coleman. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That was a full 44.9% of Moon Valley's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Eddie Boone, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Thunderbird's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Moon Valley, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thunderbird will take on Yuma at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yuma is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Moon Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shadow Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Shadow Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Thursday.
