Lapeer West scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Linden, 13-10. At the time, the Eagles was ranked 19th in the state, while the Panthers was 95th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Linden, who took down 19th ranked Linden, 13-10.
Swartz Creek's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jaylen Schoenfield threw for 331 and two touchdowns and Max Cummings had 154 yards receiving. On the ground James Richards chipped in 65 yards. Jacob Littles helped Swartz Creek's passing attack out by catching three balls for 100 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Shaye Brown of Dennis Hopkins's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1493. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. On the ground, the Dragons' Richards has rushed for 304 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Cummings. The Swartz Creek star has 35 catches for 788 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Fenton takes on Lapeer East. At the moment, the Tigers are in third, while the Eagles are in fifth.
Schoenfield and Cummings provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Glenn. The connection was good for 80 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
