Bear River is 2-8 against the Riverhawks since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bear River Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Ridgeline Riverhawks at 7:00 p.m. Bear River is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Bear River pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Sky View 61-57.
Meanwhile, Ridgeline faced the Wolves in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ridgeline came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 49-36 on Friday. The win was nothing new for Ridgeline as they're now sitting on four straight.
Ridgeline's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Khyson Buchmiller, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and Carson Cox, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Cox has scored at least a third of Ridgeline's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Vazquez, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Bear River has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-5 record this season. As for Ridgeline, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Bear River was able to grind out a solid victory over the Riverhawks in their previous meeting back in January, winning 59-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bear River since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
