Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Camden Winkelman and Devin Slawnyk Lead Centennial to Victory

Centennial came into Saturday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-36 victory over the Raymond Central Mustangs on Saturday. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Mustangs are ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Centennial was led to victory by Devin Slawnyk and Camden Winkelman. Slawnyk dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards, while Winkelman posted eight points and five rebounds. Slawnyk is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Richters, who had ten points.

Centennial pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Raymond Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will face off against Shelby-Rising City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Raymond Central, they will head out on the road to take on David City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
