The Rock Port Blue Jays's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Worth County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Rock Port posted their biggest victory since December 19, 2023 on Thursday. They breezed by King City on the road to the tune of 56-25. Given Rock Port's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while King City is ranked 468th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rock Port to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bannack Skillen, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Skillen has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Corbyn Jakub was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Worth County had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They managed a 57-51 victory over Princeton. 57 seems to be a good number for Worth County as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Worth County's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Caleb New, who scored 17 points, and Tyler New, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. New has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cole Ruby, who scored nine points.
Rock Port is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Worth County, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Rock Port skirted past Worth County 43-41 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rock Port since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
