The Wesclin Warriors will head out to square off against the Roxana Shells at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Wesclin will be strutting in after a victory while Roxana will be coming in after a defeat.
Wesclin barely beat Vandalia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Vandals on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Maria Kahrhoff made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hailey Kallvy was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Torre Parsons, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Roxana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 12-9 to Freeburg.
Josie Brannon and Lilli Ray did some serious damage despite the final result: Brannon went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Ray went 2-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Cherry, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and one double.
Wesclin's record now sits at 4-18. As for Roxana, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.
Wesclin got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Roxana by a conclusive 18-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
