Brooke Anthony spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Chloe Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Macy Harrison was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Inter-City Baptist was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .433 or higher in three consecutive games.
Dearborn never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Western International on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Cowboys. Considering the Pioneers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Calyssa Post made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Post was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Madison Shoff was a standout: she got on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Ball, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Inter-City Baptist's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Dearborn, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-17-2.
Everything went Inter-City Baptist's way against Dearborn in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Inter-City Baptist made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
