Dunnellon has gone 8-2 against Lake Weir recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Lake Weir took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Dunnellon, who comes in off a win.
Dunnellon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Eastside with a sharp 19-0 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Makayla Duncan and Addison Rohn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Duncan pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rohn pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Duncan has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Duncan scored three runs while going 1-for-3, while Rohn scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Duncan has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Dunnellon got a massive performance out of Taytym Simonsen, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Simonsen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olyvia Hanchar, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Dunnellon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lake Weir came up short against Vanguard on Friday and fell 9-4. The Hurricanes haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Lake Weir saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was G Weidenbacher, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Allison Eason also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Lake Weir's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Dunnellon, their record is now 7-9.
Dunnellon was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake Weir in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 10-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
