The Cocoa Beach Minutemen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Pineapple Cove Classical Academy 71-33 at home. The squad ran away with 60 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
It was another big night for Jay Matthews, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Cocoa Beach's points. Another player making a difference was Lukas Stevens, who scored 14 points.
Cocoa Beach's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Pineapple Cove Classical Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cocoa Beach will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Space Coast at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Pineapple Cove Classical Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Pine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
