The Whitewright Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Tioga Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Whitewright is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
After soaring to 31 points the game before, Whitewright were a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 33-7 defeat at the hands of Alvord.
Meanwhile, Tioga strolled past Trenton with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 37-19. The win was just what Tioga needed coming off of a 62-38 defeat in their prior match.
Hayden Hilliard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 343 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Austin Norwood did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards.
Whitewright's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.7 points per game. As for Tioga, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Whitewright has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 152.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Tioga struggles in that department as they've been even better at 153.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Whitewright came up short against Tioga in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 34-28. Thankfully for Whitewright, Chase Evans (who rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
