The Whiteville Wolfpack suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of South Columbus by a score of 50-47. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Whiteville of the 47-39 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Whiteville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Amari Best, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, and Will Fisher who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Best hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Brycen Edwards, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Whiteville's defeat was their 11th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10. As for South Columbus, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Whiteville will head out on the road to face off against Heide Trask at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Columbus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Bladen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
