The Oakville Acorns had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Pope John Paul II on Thursday as Oakville made off with a 48-23 victory. The victory was just what Oakville needed coming off of a 36-7 loss in their prior matchup.
Among those leading the charge was Alyssa Forsythe, who scored 21 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Oakville's points. Andrea Mendez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Oakville's win bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Pope John Paul II, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakville will take on LaConner at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. LaConner presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Oakville in Washington (LaConner is ranked 19th, while Oakville is ranked 62nd). Pope John Paul II will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northwest Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
