The Grayslake North Knights will head out to take on the Elk Grove Grenadiers at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Grayslake North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Grayslake North not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 20-0). Everything went their way against Round Lake as they made off with a 16-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Brena Dalton made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Dalton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Lauren Gaeding was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Jane Pritchard was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Grayslake North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .793. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Elk Grove fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Rolling Meadows on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 7-6. The Grenadiers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Jamie Wirtz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Grayslake North's record now sits at 14-9. As for Elk Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
