Softball Recap: Madison West's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Madison West came into Tuesday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Sun Prairie West Wolves by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in April.

Violet Knepp made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Ada Gentry tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

Back at the plate, Amira Baldon was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Sofi De Los Santos also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Madison West hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sun Prairie West struck out ten times.

Madison West's victory bumped their record up to 2-13. As for Sun Prairie West, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Madison West will take on rival Janesville Parker at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sun Prairie West is set to square off against their familiar foe Middleton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
