The Morrow Mustangs posted their closest victory yet this season on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 77-75 win over West Charlotte. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Morrow can attribute much of their success to Dayton Harris, Jr., who scored 19 points. Harris, Jr. hasn't dropped below 15points for six straight games. Kelvin Rozier was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
When it comes to explaining why West Charlotte lost, one person who can't be blamed is Christian Coleman. Despite the final result, he scored 36 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Coleman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bamara Kone, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds and two blocks.
Morrow pushed their record up to 9-8 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for West Charlotte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
Morrow will head out on the road to take on Alcovy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Alcovy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Morrow likes a good challenge. As for West Charlotte, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chambers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chambers is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 73.1 points per game.
