Meanwhile, Sherman Oaks CES put another one in the bag last Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on East Valley with a sharp 26-7 victory. Considering the Knights have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Araceli Altamirano and Kaitlyn Flamenco were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Altamirano pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Flamenco tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Altamirano has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Altamirano went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Flamenco went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was Flamenco's first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reagan Rosenthal, who fired off four home runs, ten RBI, and five runs while going 5-for-5. Those ten RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reyn Campbell, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
Sherman Oaks CES' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fulton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
Fulton suffered a grim 18-3 defeat to Sherman Oaks CES in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
