Westside and Riverside are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Westside has given up an average of 15.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cedar Creek Christian hit Westside with a 12-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolverines lost 16-7 to the Saints. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous five game, Riverside brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They blew past Raines 15-5 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.
Rylan Covington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Covington was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenton Scott, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Justin Rue, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Riverside's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Westside, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Westside might still be hurting after the 16-10 defeat they got from Riverside in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Wolverines have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
