If Richton was riding high  fresh off their  14-3 takedown of Forrest County Agricultural last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Richton Rebels fell just short of the Salem Wildcats by a score of  7-6 on Saturday. The loss was the Rebels' first of the season.
 Brayleigh Parker put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  six innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   ten  hits (and not a single walk). Parker was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-3.
 In other batting news,  Kailyn Ely was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.  Eliza Kelly was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with three  RBI and one  stolen base.
Having lost for the first time  this season, Richton  fell to 2-1. As for Salem, they pushed their record up to 3-4 with the  victory, which was their ninth straight  at home dating back to last season.
 Richton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  matchup,  a  13-0  defeat against Pisgah on the 22nd. Salem has also already played their next  contest (against Amite County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
