The Apache Junction Prospectors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 71-37 loss at the hands of Vista Grande. Apache Junction has not had much luck with Vista Grande recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Apache Junction lost, one person who can't be blamed is Omar Adam. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Castro, who scored nine points.
Apache Junction bumped their record down to 6-13 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Vista Grande, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apache Junction will take on Cortez at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cortez knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Apache Junction likes a good challenge. As for Vista Grande, they will head out on the road to square off against Tempe at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tempe is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.2 points per game.
