Meanwhile, Avon Park's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 89-3 loss at the hands of DeSoto County. Avon Park was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-1.
Lake Placid's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.67 points. As for Avon Park, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Everything went Lake Placid's way against Avon Park in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as Lake Placid made off with a 20-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Placid since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
